The proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is one of the strongest contenders as a power source for powering future cars, residential areas and small combined power units due to their modular construction and the high energy densities that can be attained. In this study, a H{sub}2-O{sub}2 PEMFC was constructed and effects of cell temperature, humidification temperature of gases, flow rates of gases and flow rate ratio of O{sub}2 to H{sub}2 on the performance were investigated. It was found that performance increases significantly with increasing temperature of cell and humidification temperature. High O{sub}2 to H{sub}2 flow rate ratio had also a positive effect on the performance up to an extent. On the other hand, excess flow rate of gases decreased the performance.
