摘要

Significant amounts of bisphenol A (BPA), an endocrine disrupting chemical, is released from manufacturing plants of plastics, epoxy resins, dental material and flame retardants. Due to its wide usage, BPA has been detected in urban and industrial wastewater, drinking water and landfill leachates. Recent studies reported that estrogenic activity of BPA at very low concentrations affects various aquatic organisms (i.e., 40-1000 μg/L) and humans (i.e., 2x10-4 μg/L) and can cause hormonal disruption inducing infertility and breast cancer.
