摘要

Two years ago, a project of national scope to compile geothermal relevant data was initiated at the Gerencia de Proyectos Geotermoelectricos of Mexico (GPG). The goal was to develop a computer assisted system to make a new interpretation of geothermal resources of Mexico, and to put the basis to continue exploration in the near future with the best available decision making methodology. At present, the data compilation stage is finished and qualitative interpretations can be made at any place in the country using the efficient display capabilities of geographic information systems (GIS). Potential uses of this project are very ample. We illustrate them showing the correlation of hot springs with topographic lineaments, interpreted over shaded relief displays of digital elevation models (DEM) in the state of Jalisco, and with magnetic anomalies, in the state of Coahuila.
