Exploitation effects in the Los Azufres geothermal reservoir were investigated through patterns of behavior of chemical constituents and isotopic (δ~(18)O, δD) compositions of produced fluids. For the south zone, 2002 isotopic data show mixing of reservoir fluids with reinjection fluids identified in wells AZ-2, AZ-16, AZ-16AD, AZ-18, AZ-33, AZ-36 and AZ-46. Oxygen-18, deuterium, chloride, CO_(2), N_(2) (in total fluid) and "excess reservoir steam" distributions show maximum values in the west of the south zone, where reinjection wells are located. Values decrease to the east of the field with minimum values towards the north zone. Estimated reservoir temperatures show minimum values (~235°C) in the southwest of the field, temperatures increase gradually to the east, with maximum values (~305°C) in the north zone. These patterns are related to reinjection and to the possible evolution to two-phase conditions in the deep zone of the reservoir.
