Lego Mindstorms is a well-known teaching material for practical education to understand mechatronics. Many researchers have been reported effectiveness of the Mindstorms as an educational programming tool and as general-purpose mechanical parts for robots. In this report, we show effectiveness of the Mindstorms as an educational tool to experience the design process in consideration with structural dynamics. Structures assembled by Lego blocks have different collapse patterns under various load types. Students have to consider these behaviors into the design of the robots in order to realize motions as the students intend initially.
