The electron spin echo methods of electron spin echo envelope modulation (ESEEM) and electron spin echo―double resonance (ESE-ENDOR) provide for sensitive and selective detection of spin transitions of magnetic nuclei coupled to paramagnetic metals and radicals. In this tutorial, Ⅰ describe the basic operation of these pulsed EPR methods, with illustrative examples from metal and radical centers in Photosystem Ⅱ.
