摘要

Pond culture is a traditional method of fish production in Hungary as well as in Central and Eastern Europe; it is performed in earthen ponds. Common carpus the main species, sometimes in polyculrure with Chinese carps, other cyprinids and piscivorousfish. Under temperate conditions, this method requires three growing seasons to produce table fish. In Hungary, 80% of the total fish production originated from fish ponds in 2006 (the total area was 23 900 ha), and the average yield was 870 kg ha~(-1)(Pinter, 2007). The aim of this study was to survey the nutrient status of fish ponds, determine the nutrient discharge to receiving waters, and evaluate the nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and organic matter (OM) budgets.
