Vimba (Vimba vimba tenella (Nordmann, 1840)) is one of the most exploited species in Karacaoren I Dam Lake following pike-perch and carp species. Although there are studies regarding biogeography and systematic of vimba, studies relating its biology are rare (Geldiay and Balik, 1996). Tanyolac (1968) studied the length-age and weight-length relationships of freshwater fish populations in Ankara and its vicinity. Backiel and Bontemps (1995) described vimba population stock size in Vistula river systemusing three different methods. The aim of this study was to assess growth rate of V. vimba tenella in Karacaoren I Dam Lake.
