Recently, for the clean room wear used for the electronics industry, it has been necessary of the function of protecting some chemical pollution, especially the influence of alkali gas, in addition to the low level of dust generation. To meet this necessity, we have developed the new fabric material "AQUASUNNY". AQUASUNNY consists of a special filament compounded both some kinds of special metal oxide having an ability to absorb chemicals and photo-catalyst. Some of the special metal oxide possesses water. AQUASUNNY has high capacity to absorb chemicals, moreover, performs both high level efficiency for particle collection and high air permeability. So far, in order to realize high particle collection efficiency, the fabric must have been high density construction to realize low air permeability. So, while working wearing the wear made by this fabric, the worker must feel uncomfortable feeling because of high humidity inside. AQUASUNNY has solved this problem too. As a mechanism of the high level efficiency for particle collection in spite of the high air permeability, we assume that the photo-catalyst makes a thin water coating on the fiber by the super-hydrophilic effect so that the fine particle may be trapped on it by the liquid bridge force.
