摘要

A new coiler type was started up for the first time at the hot-strip mill of ArcelorMittal at Fos-sur-Mer, France. Referred to as the "Power Coiler," the objective of this installation was to enable the coiling of thicker-gauge, high-strength strip grades, which was beyond the capacity limits of the previous coiling equipment Applying extensive computer simulations, a machine design could be developed to answer this need, and which is also much better suited for the coiling of inferior strip conditions arising in the rolling and cooling sections. This results in a higher availability of the rolling mill and opens a door for a broadened product spectrum in comparison with conventional coiler designs. The second Power Coiler was included in the fully-integrated 2,250 mm wide new hot strip mill at ArcelorMittal, Poland. Start-up of this new mill took place in mid 2007. An excellent coiling quality could be proofed in the full rang between 1.2 mm and 25.4 mm strip thickness.
