A Molecular Dynamics (MD) technique is proposed to simulate the motion of water nano-droplets on wavelike nanorough silica surfaces and the contact angle is evaluated. Wenzel and Cassie models provide good results for the contact angle on microrough surfaces, but when applied to nanorough surfaces (1-28 nm) the results were inconclusive [1]. For this reason, the purpose of this work is to verify, based on MD studies, the correctness of the extension of Wenzel and Cassie models in the nanometer range.
