摘要

The Civil Engineering Writing Project, funded by the National Science Foundation's Transforming Undergraduate Education in STEM program (grant no. 1323259), addresses a persistent problem in engineering education: the discrepancy between the writing skills of program graduates and the demands of writing in the workplace. In the project, new teaching materials are based on research about effective writing by civil engineering practitioners. The materials are integrated into existing courses and assignments, rather than through major curriculum changes, so that new instruction can be implemented more easily and quickly. This poster paper provides a brief summary of the project, emphasizing the teaching materials and assessment results from the past three years. More details can be found in several publications.
