Continuous improvement programs have changed and matured throughout history. Several theories and methodologies have been introduced, with some finding wide popularity among private sector companies. The latest methodology, ALean Six sigma, is a combination of two continuous improvement programs, Lean and Six Sigma, popularzed most notably by Toyota Motor company and General Electric. Although there is considerable literature available and many consultants involved with Lean six sigma, very little published reserrch addresses the practical experiences of companies that have implemented a Lean Six Sigma program. This research's purpose was to investigate the deployment and implementation strategies of private sector companies that have successfully implemented Lean Six Sigma.
