Mobile Equipment is a multi-faceted part of the workplace. It is responsible for a sizable amount of injuries and fatalities in many applications. The steel industry makes use of many different mobile equipment, from overhead cranes, to varying forklifts, to internal trains, and many others. When considering safety dealing with these things, there are two perspectives to consider, the person operating this mobile equipment and those working around it. Emphasis by many workplaces and unions on workplace safety have begun to make noticeable changes in the trends of workplace injuries. To try and continue this trend, new and innovative techniques and tools are constantly being developed and tried to improve safety awareness and the safety culture in the workplace. The project discussed in this paper provides one such possibility that addresses these using Virtual Reality (VR) technologies and 360 degree 3D video.
