摘要

Integrated steel making shows an element of mismatch between the hot metal output and the downstream batch wise steel production. There are both planned and unplanned causes to this; start and ramp-up of blast furnace creates undesired chemical conditions in the metal, the steel plant becomes unavailable due to problems with overhead cranes, stops due to the continuous caster or during BOF/LD relining, all of which generates an excess of liquid hot metal. The excess iron volume can vary from a few percent up to 8% or more of the yearly blast furnace output.
