U. S. Steel - Great Lakes Works decided to replace an outdated venturi scrubber with a modern Paul Wurth annular gap scrubber. The objective of the replacement was to improve gas quality and ensure safe and reliable operations of the B2 BF during its next campaign. The new system was installed during the 2019 summer outage of this furnace. This paper describes the scrubber technology, the project setup, as well as the concept of the erection and installation activities.
