This chapter briefly presents the Czech Republic's role in developing ponds for fish cultivation in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. It served as the introduction to a film that was shown at the workshop. It is a great pleasure for the Czech Republic, a small player with the OECD Fisheries Committee, to present the project in which - as you can see from your agenda - several countries, institutions and experts have joined their will and efforts with the aim to improve the life of people in developing countries. The project, which - according to our modest consideration - is a good example of environmentally friendly intervention to traditional local habits.
