For the first time, we have demonstrated long-term operation of a robust, laser-based sensor that measures combustion parameters allowing real-time feedback to optimize boiler operation. The sensor system measures H{sub}2O, CO, CO{sub}2, O{sub}2 and temperature simultaneously over 15 independent laser beam paths in succession. The system architecture is depicted in Figure 1. Figure 2 shows the system control rack.
