Laparoscoplc Surgery of Adnexal Masses In Pregnancy

A retrospective study was performed on pregnant patients submitted to laparoscopic surgery for adnexal masses from 2002 to 2006. Indications, feasibility, risks, complications and pregnancy outcome were considered. Five patients were included. Indications were pelvic and abdominal pain (3 cases) and in one of these anemia, whereas in two no symptoms were present. Sonographic preoperative diagnosis was confirmed in four patients. Patients underwent to laparoscopic surgery in the 1st trimester or early 2nd. No intra-operative complications occurred. No conversion to laparotomy was necessary. Mean birth weight was 3127 gr, mean Apgar scores were 8.8 and 9.6. In our experience laparoscopic management of adnexal pathology during pregnancy is a safe and effective procedure with low rate of complications and no effects on pregnancy outcome.
