摘要

The research studies are focused on the development of a methodology and a software tool dedicated to the analysis and the optimisation of the human resources (manning) on board Italian Navy ships. In particular the study will be planned and developed in order to facilitate the integration of the relevant Human Factors requirements into the global design process leading to an optimised workload onboard and a consequent possible reduction of the total crew number. Final output of the study will be a tool which helps for the composition and optimisation of ship manning. The tool was build tailored on Italian Navy laws and procedures, and was implemented thought measurements taken during visits on board Italian Navy ships; it will allow to determine the manning of similar naval Unit, taking into account the actual function allocation and to improve parametric analysis on the human workload. The paper will present the identified critical situations due to human work overload and/or lack of personnel; for these situations will be possible to use the tool to research the best possible configuration in the on board organization. For overload situation, experimental tests will be carried out in order to measure cognitive and physical workload. The paper will also present the preliminary results of these tests conducted on board and in CETENA Laboratory.
