Here, we describe and evaluate an algorithm that tracks a region of interest (ROI) in a video sequence of sonograms of the liver. It should provide real time displacements in both directions. We propose an algorithm that estimates the motion of the liver in both directions, from a video sequence of sonograms. The results on in-vivo data are qualitatively encouraging, and it is likely that this algorithm can provide real-time results. Motion in the third direction was not considered here and should be the object of further studies.
