摘要

To examine the effect of the percutaneous application of carbon dioxide, a sheet containing an aqueous solution of 1000 ppm or higher carbon dioxide was applied to the forearm of healthy adult subjects. Then the vascular diameter was measured by a Capillary Scope System. Blood flow was assessed by the venous occlusion method using near-infrared spectroscopy and by the full-field laser profusion imager. Compared to sham sheets, the carbon dioxide sheets significantly increased the diameter of subepidermal microvessels, and increased the local blood flow. The development of commercial products using the sheets for the improvement of blood circulation for use in skin and health care fields may be promising.
