The cornerstone upon which underpins the European Higher Education Area is thequality and proof of this is that it seeks to achieve the highest quality in all possibleparameters that underlie this EHEA. To measure the quality and to have mutual trustbetween the different institutions of higher education between countries requires acommon methodology and cost evaluation and quality accreditation. Therefore havedeveloped various mechanisms and agencies at national or autonomous level in Spain,the Agencia Nacional para la Evaluacion de la Calidad has faced enormous challenges inachieving the goals outlined in the Universities Act (Title V) [1] on issues such asassessment, certification and accreditation of teaching activities, research and teachingmanagement, activities, facilities management among others, all aimed to promote qualityteaching and research in Spanish Universities.In The Organic Law 4 / 2007 of 12 April [2] set a new definition of the hierarchies ofuniversity staff and one of the most important definitions are level of professors ofuniversity and lectures. Also it achieves and a new procedure for access to thosehierarchies that require prior authorization from accreditation. The new procedure foraccreditation has been the subject of great controversy and is being widely criticized byunions of workers. But there seems to be consensus that a clearer and more objectivesystem than the previous system of rating.In the present work, show the results of a study on the impact that has had this procedurein the sex distribution in the categories of professor and lectures in the University ofGranada, in which is easy to appreciate a significant change in this distribution. The studywas also performed separately in different scientific areas, and compared with aggregatedata from all Spanish universities.It also discusses gender composition of the committees that have considered the squaresconvened at the University of Granada from the new system and how the rule developedby the university has influenced this aspect.
