摘要

While today’s globalization increases the interaction of people from different cultures,many organizations attempt to develop employees’ intercultural competence by increasingtheir international experience. The purpose of this study was to understand therelationship between international experience and the two critical components of culturalability, namely, openness to social interaction and emotional stability from the perspectiveof 359 employees in Taiwan. The results show that international experiences had nosignificant effect on openness and emotional stability. Openness and emotional stabilitywere, however, significantly associated. This study’s findings suggest that overseasexperience may not directly lead to cultural ability development. A more careful design isnecessary to strengthen such a connection.
