The issues of national standards development as well as compliance of domestic products with international standards and requirements become more and more vi-tal as Ukraine's joining WTO and EU integration depend to a considerable degree on bringing Ukrainian national system of technical regulations in conformity with international and, above all, European approaches. In European Union countries almost all products are delivered in accordance with the requirements which are specified in European standards corresponding to European directives that establish compulsory requirements to product safety. In 2001 Ukraine has adopted a number of laws that conform to the principles of European legislation, such as "On Standardisation", "On Conformance Evaluation", and "On Accreditation of Conformance Evaluation Authorities". The new laws on standardisation and technical regulation have defined clearly enough the transition of our county to European standardizing methodology (New and Global approaches) that will require the development of the compulsory technical regulations corresponding to European directives as well as national standards for optional use.
