摘要

The next generation solid-state lighting sources became possible with the invention of the white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) by Nichia Company in 1996. The combination of an InGaN-based blue LED and a cerium-activated yttrium aluminum garnet (Ce~(3+):Y_3Al_5O_(12), Ce:YAG) phosphor is the most popular method of white light generation because of the lowest manufacturing costs at present and capability to promote high light yield. However, for the advanced high-power white LEDs this combination cannot provide long-term stable work because of photodegradation of the organic epoxy resin, which is used to fix the phosphor powder, under condition of high irradiation and high temperatures.
