In a highly mobile and infrastructure-less networks such as Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET), pre-configuration of addresses to the nodes is not possible. Therefore, node addresses must be configured dynamically with minimum delay and pocket loss. The address auto-configuration protocol manages the resource address space to assign a unique network address to on un-configured node. This paper proposes a new address auto-configuration protocol for mobile ad hoc networks based on modulus property of integers. The proposed scheme allots IP address to the joining nodes without demand for broadcasting whole networks. Our protocol is easy and of course efficient in terms of message overhead and latency.
