摘要

The growing interest to improve the overall efficiency of production and the simultaneous technical development of sensors, analysis equipment and especially wireless technology has led to the great interest in e-Maintenance. In general terms e-Maintenance is understood as the technology that makes the needed information available for the maintenance engineer and enables him to communicate with the supporting system irrespective where the machine under inspection or maintenance actions is located. Based on the findings of large European research project Dynamite (Dynamic Decisions in Maintenance) the paper discusses the roles of various actors in this e-Maintenance scheme. First the needs of a maintenance engineer are covered both from the worker point of view and the company point of view. Following the description of the needs the roles of various pieces of hardware and software are covered taking into account the expected development trends. The paper also highlights some of the problem areas i.e. what are the challenges in developing fully functional and economically optimised e-Maintenance support for modern production environments.
