The Omary-Yang group discovered fluorous metal-organic frameworks (FMOFs) as a new class of porous solids (US issued patent 8,343,260) that demonstrated superhydrophobic pores with extraordinary stability (to water, air, high temperature, and light), record breathability, and high volumetric gas adsorption.1 We also have discovered non-porous fluorous metal-organic small molecular congeners that may be used as active n-type semiconductors.2 Herein we communicate preliminary results on related porous and nonporous coordination polymers designed to bestow specific functions for next-generation molecule-based electronic materials.
