Measurements on Lifting and Fixing of Nuclear Reaction Dome

Measurement on spherical construction is a difficult task in engineering survey. The issue about how to overcome the disadvantages of construction site and to ensure the measurement precision and accuracy, as well as the project quality, is widely concerned. Nuclear reactor is an important construction for nuclear power station, and the dome is an important component for the reactor. Dome is not only a safe shell but also the place for fixing various equipments and parts. The difficulty for getting high precision fixing is due to its large volume and heavy weight. We introduce a measurement method for fixing a dome with diameter of 37m and weight of 143t at the top of a 44.83m tall building. Since dome fLxing is a complex project which requires precision construction, a reliable accurate positioning and measurement plays very important role to accomplish the complex three-dimensional structure as designed. We carefully scheduled the control surveying for the whole lifting and fixing process. We positioned the reference points for the inside parts of dome, also for the crane and the lifting site, and then measured the height and the radius of the dome layer by layer. Our practical measurements have shown a typical engineering example for colleagues and also provided a reference case for further investigations.
