Presented below are the vertical displacement monitoring results measured using an interferometric phase radar system from load tests performed on the I-5 bridge over Lambert Rd. near Sacramento, CA (Figure 1). This project was conducted as part of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Long-Term Bridge Performance Project (LTBPP). The static load testing and additional measurements were coordinated and conducted by personnel from Virginia Tech and Utah State University. The investigation focused on: 1) measuring the displacements induced by ambient traffic; 2) measuring the displacements induced by static load tests; 3) measuring the natural vibration frequency of the monitored bridge span.
