In this paper we present an implicit algorithm for the implementation of the methodof FPD(Fluid Particle Dynamics) for use in simulation of particle motions immersed in a vis-cous fluid. Compared with the original explicit algorithm, the implicit scheme presented in thispaper allows a much larger time step. Applying our method to specific model flows, we dem-onstrated the effect of various parameters associated with FPD, such as the viscosity ratio andthe interfacial width, on the stability as well as the accuracy of the numerical methods based onthe simulation results. It was found that the method can be used for the case when the simplic-ity than the accuracy of the code is the most important priority for simulating the motion of sin-gle or multiple particles submerged in a viscous fluid.
