The experiment aimed to identify soil texture in different tropical land farming land in several subdistricts of Muna Regency, Province of Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. The experiments were conducted during the end of dry season (September to October). In Experiment 1, we identified the variation of clay, silt and sand mineral fraction within three permanent cropping systems of palm sugar, coffee and cashew nut gardens, while in Experiment 2, we observed the various sand, silt and clay minerals in four fallow periods. We observed that the different permanent cropping systems resulted in the variability of soil texture mineral compositions. However, silt fraction was a dominant mineral in any cropping systems. In the second experiment we observed that traditional fallow system did not significantly effect on the change in soil texture and primary mineral compositions. The increasing of fallow period up to eight years did increase soil permeability but it did not have impact on soil texture.
