This study is reporting about the fungal pathogens and control measures of Chinese chestnut fruit rots. Forty-five different strains of fungi were isolated from the rotten nuts and asymptomatic ones. Based on the culture phenotype, thirty-four strains were identified to be 13 genera, i.e. Aureobasidium sp., Aiternaria sp., Phoma sp., Penicillium sp., Trichothecium sp., Fusicoccum sp., Rhizoctonia sp., Mucor sp., Phomopsis sp., Fusarium sp., Colletotrichum sp., Botrytis sp. And Rhizopus sp. Among them, Alternaria, Trichothecium, Fusicoccum and Fusarium had higher isolating rate than others. The inoculation tests showed that Alternaria sp., Fusarium sp. And Fusicoccum sp. Could only infect the wounded seeds of chestnut, and Trichothecium sp. Could infect both wounded and unwounded seeds of chestnut, in order to control fruit rots, four post-harvest treatments before storage and three protective measures to avoid infection of pathogens in the field were tested. The results showed that all the tested control measures were, to some extent, able to improve the proportion of healthy fruits during the storage of chestnut.
