摘要

We describe a setup which will extend the physics reach of the STAR detector at RHICto include the measurement of very forward protons. The very forward protons, coming out ofpolarized proton-proton collisions at RHIC are detected by the Roman Pots, selecting processes inwhich the protons stay intact and the exchange is dominated by one with the quantum numbersof a color singlet, thus enhancing the probability of measuring reactions where colorless gluonicmatter dominates the exchange. The processes include both elastic and inelastic diffraction. Thecapabilities of the STAR detector to detect Glueballs and Exotics in central production mechanismare described.
