摘要

Arsenic (As) in drinking water and soils poses a serious threat to millions of people worldwide due to its chronic toxicity (Kapaj et al., 2006). The redox transformations of As significantly affect the toxicity and mobility of As in soils, sediments and natural waters. More specifically, reduction of arsenate [As(V)] to arsenite [As(IH)] may increase As toxicity and mobility (Mandal & Suzuki, 2002). At acidic to near-neutral pH, arsenite is generally more mobile than As(V), because As(Tfl) is less strongly sorbed than As(V) to a variety of adsorbents (Smedley & Kinniburgh, 2002).
