The work herein demonstrates how hybrid mesh network reliability can be improved by leveraging the channel diversity enabled by a compact, tripolar antenna. Specifically, through simulation, we show that a tripolar antenna can reduce packet drops to a third of that of when a single element antenna is used. These results were achieved assuming a slowly-varying, but highly-multipath, propagation environment such as those that may he exnected in industrial IoT settings.
