摘要

The aim of the paper is to understand and quantify the tensile and fracture behaviour of the each regions of the dissimilar metal weld. Full scale forged pipe of SA508 Grade 3 Class 1 and SS 304LN has been welded using the Inclonel 82 filler (buttering and root pass welding) and the Inconel 182 (filling passes). Tensile and fracture toughness tests Specimens were machined from the actual pipe weld. Tensile test results indicated that the percentage elongation of the buttering region is lowest in comparison to other regions. Strength of this region is comparable to that of low alloy steel. Fracture toughness tests results indicate the buttering region has lowest fracture resistance which is in consistence with lowest toughness from the tensile test results.
