摘要

Interferon type I (IFN-I), which is composed of IFN-a subtypes and IFN-p, is not only a potent antiviral factor against many but not all viruses but also represents an important alarm system of the immune system. Of particular relevance for virus infections are the ability of IFN-I to promote crucial processes leading to effector and memory adaptive immune responses. In particular IFN-I promotes the activation and maturation of dendritic cells (DC), the development and activation of cytotoxic T lymphocytes, the activation of natural killer cells and the development of B lymphocytes differentiation towards antibody secreting plasma cells and memory B lymphocytes.
