According with the COMMISSION REGULATION (EC) No 1581/2004 of 27 August 2004 and amending Regulation (EC) No 1639/2001 establishing the minimum and extended Community programmes for the collection of data in the fisheries sector and laying down detailed rules for the application of Council Regulation (EC) No 1543/2000, the current study presents the fishing activity of the UE fleet of pelagic trawlers in the period between 2004 and 2007 in the FAO division 34 and their catches and landings in the port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands). Figures for captures, effort of the target, accessory species as well as a comparative analysis between them by year are presented. Satellite-derived sea-surface temperature (SST) and oscillations of SSTanomalies were analyzed, trying to detect analytically changes in the océanographie conditions that may affect the level of catches.
