Therapeutic community is a form of care and treatment for people suffering from addiction aiming behavior change and developing the needed skills to reintegration in their original environment. This article presents the main conclusions of the research study covering the perception of therapeutic community in Romania as a method of addiction recovery from the perspective of individuals who may be related to this form of treatment, either directly or indirectly. The research is mapping the major elements of TC: definition, location and facilities available within it, length of program, staff working in the community, the group of clients, costs and outcomes of treatment offered. Purpose approach aims is to build a community profile based on information collected from study participants: drug addicts that are in methadone program, former drug addicts who are included in programs such as therapeutic community and specialists in addiction.
