Organized in 2000, TSG #3 is making good progress in carrying out its work. It is anticipated that the first of three phases of its work, the cataloging of existing noise policies and regulations from around the world will be completed on time by the end of 2001. TSG #3 will then move directly into the second phase of its work. TSG #5 was organized a year later, in 2001, and holds its first meeting on 2001.08.25. It is expected that TSG #5 will draw heavily on the work of TSG #3 and its assessment of the effectiveness of the policies and regulations that exist today. TSG #5 will be working to develop recommendations for formulating an effective global noise control policy.
