We present here the global ocean reanalysis effort carried out within MyOcean EU funded project. The overall objective was to produce, validate and document eddy-resolving global ocean reanalyses spanning the altimetric era (1993-present). Several partners were involved in that effort: Mercator Océan (France), CLS (France), CMCC (Italy), U-Reading (United Kingdom) and LEGI-CNRS (France). We present first the different reanalyses features and the validation methodology used to evaluate the reanalyses skill in a comprehensive framework. Then, we show the results both results from individual reanalyses and ensemble based estimates.
