The Power Mould's key technological feature has shown consistency in results over the years, confirming theexpected performances for which it was designed to ensure high reliability at high casting speed. Performances of6.2 m/min on average over a sequence of 23 hours' uninterrupted casting have guaranteed the stability of theendless rolling process for rebar application in a single strand high-productivity line.The stiffness of the Power Mould combined with high efficiency in heat flux exchange has allowed limiting thethermal deformation of the copper tube, thus resulting in stability and superior lifetime of the mould. After its firstapplication, in recent years the Power Mould has been extended to a wide range of CCM's, including for theproduction of special steels such as stainless steel and quality steel.Recently, the Power Mould concept has been further developed into a very innovative design aiming to become anew energy-saving solution and to reduce production costs while maximizing productivity.This paper sets the present benchmark of the Power Mould technology in terms of results, performances and newdevelopments of the Eco Power Mould.
