The potential for the use of thermoplastic composites is mostly based on the shorter processing times and recyclability. Unfortunately, it is often the case that these thermoplastic matrices do not result in a fully consolidated component, leading to unacceptable mechanical properties. This is halting the wide spread use of thermoplastic composites. To address this, yarn with a dual function is produced. Additionally, the development of a procedure for the continuous production of thermoplastic composites will also be presented. Through the combination of these two aspects, a fully consolidated and homogeneous thermoplastic composite component is realised.
