摘要

It is well recognized that software systems must accurately reflect the needs of a target domain. However challenges still exist in effectively achieving this, these include: Involving appropriate stakeholders, handling requirements conflict and accommodating multiple diverse stakeholder perspectives on projects. As part of a Ph.D. dissertation this paper reports on the results of an industry-based study conducted to address the process of communicating software requirements between developers and other stakeholders on projects. Five industry practices found useful during requirements elicitation are presented, further, the concept of Stakeholder Priority Shift (SPSH) reveals an important socio-cultural dimension observed during early requirements activities in practice. The paper concludes with a discussion on the findings and implications thus far.
