Characteristics of fissure development evolution and height of overburden failure of important significance for prediction of gas and mine water. Taking Dafosi coal company as the experimental mine, by borehole televiewer system and borehole flushing fluid leakage, the height of water flowing fractured zone of overburden, deep buried, extra thick coal seam and fully-mechanized caving mining is monitored. The digital analysis, similarity simulation and numerical simulation experiment of fissure development evolution are carried out. The research results show as follows: (1) The height of water flowing fractured zone of overburden, deep buried, extra thick coal seam and fully-mechanized caving mining Dafosi mining is from 170.8 m to 192.12 m. (2) In sandstone zone, due to tension effect, the fissure of criss-cross is mainly with high dimension and high angle. (3) The mining-induced fractures characteristics are mainly with high angle, low width and minimum length, the fissure evolution amount is square increasing with the buried depth. (4) The mining-induced fractures are be obvious regular change related to mining speed, the more mining speed the more closing of fissure fast. (5) The fissure cluster region focus on before and after the coal wall, the fractures density distribution curves of overlying strata are like "snake".
