摘要

The most common stereotypic behaviours in horses are crib-biting/wind-sucking; weaving and box-walking. The reported prevalence for crib-biting in horses is 2.4-8.3%. Crib-biting is most frequently reported to occur during and following the consumption of meals and has been linked to clinical conditions. Current approaches to prevent or reduce crib-biting are often not successful. This study assessed whether previously researched strategies from the field of applied behaviour analysis could be used to assess the stimulus control for crib-biting in horses and influence when crib-biting occurred.
