Plasma electrolysis is an advanced process of electrolysis using DC current to form electric sparks due to the electrons that undergo plasma excitation in the electrolyte solution. Plasma electrolysis produces hydroxyl radicals, a powerful oxidant, with greater amount than other advanced oxidation method, that is useful to degrade high molecular weight of organic compounds such as dye. This research aims to evaluate the degradation of batik dye waste which use Remazol Brilliant Blue (RBB) dye, using plasma electrolysis method with addition of microbubbles. Through the experiment which was carried out using 0.02 M Na_2SO_4, 150 mg/L of dye concentration, 40mg/L of FeSO_4, 1cm anode depth, and 700 V of applied voltage, it's proven that the addition of microbubbles can increase hydroxyl radicals production and decrease energy consumption. The result of this research shows that the efficiency of dye degradation in addition of microbubbles is increased with 99.63% of percentage of degradation in 30 minutes, 0.56 mg/L of final dye concentration, 45.86 mg/L of COD, and 1162.47 kJ/mmol of specific energy.
