摘要

Iodine (h) is a naturally occurring element that has a long history of use for disinfection. Iodine has the ability to bind to quaternary ammonium anion exchange resins as tri- or pent-iodide complexes and presents a convenient safe source for elemental iodine. These complexes are a demand-type disinfectant, releasing iodine only when needed, thus allowing for a longer lifetime of product and minimizing casual exposure to iodine. The core technology strips elemental iodine vapor from around the resinbead in sufficient quantities for transfer to remote locations for fluid and surface disinfection as either a direct vapor interaction or through bubble formation. During vapor contact, molecules of iodine are presented directly onto organism cell walls providing elemental iodine for disinfection.
